The metal is dying while you decide.
You pour. Dot chalks the pattern card. Pick the gating, tip the
ladle, and race the freeze front through the mould: too slow and the
metal dies before it fills the thin parts, too fast and it tears the
sand out of the wall. Then the sand comes off, and the casting is
what you made.
